Als  Schüler von  Prof.  Krayenbühl  (Zürich)  geprägt,hat  er  u.a.  die  Neurochirurgische  Klinik  des  Kantonsspitals  Aarau  gegründet  und  aufgebaut,  wo während  20  Jahren  über 20&#039;000  Patienten  an  Hirn und  Rückenmark  operiert  wurden,  in  Spezialgebieten  wie  Mikrochirurgie  bei  Hirntumoren,  Neurochirurgie des Schmerzes,  Eingriffe  im Bereiche der Wirbelsäule.  Neben  seiner Tätigkeit als Arzt und in der Wissenschaft  -  Dr.  Probst  ist  u.a.  Professor an der  Universität Zürich  und  Ehrendoktor  in  Lublin  -war  er  stets  ein  engagierter  Lehrer:  16  seiner ehemaligen Mitarbeiter sind heute als Klinikdirektoren und Professoren in aller Welt tätig</ins>.&lt;ref&gt;Charles Probst: Hirntod - Tod des Menschen?  Ein  Diskussionsbeitrag.
